Top Surgery Cost in Europe (2026): Prices by Country and What They Include

4 min read

Top surgery prices in Europe vary by more than three times from one country to the next, and the headline numbers are rarely like-for-like. This guide compares published self-pay prices for FTM and non-binary top surgery (masculinising chest surgery) across Europe, explains what usually is and isn't included, and shows where our clinic in Stockholm fits.

Prices checked in November 2026 from clinics' own published price lists and price guides. Prices change, so always confirm with the clinic.

The short answer

Self-pay top surgery in Europe costs roughly €3,000 to €12,000. The lowest prices are published in Turkey, Poland and Belgium, and the highest by private clinics in the UK. At ECGA in Stockholm, top surgery starts from €6,100, including general anaesthesia, the compression garment and all follow-up visits.

Top surgery prices by country (self-pay, 2026)

  • United Kingdom (private): about £7,500–£10,500, roughly €9,000–€12,000. Keyhole and periareolar sit at the lower end; double incision with nipple grafts at the upper end.

  • Germany (self-pay): roughly €4,500–€8,000. Few clinics publish fixed prices, so expect to ask for a quote.

  • Spain: roughly €4,000–€6,500, depending on technique and whether a hospital stay is included.

  • Belgium: roughly €3,000–€5,000, with prices that vary clearly by technique (keyhole lowest, anchor/double incision highest).

  • Poland: from roughly €4,000, with a wide spread between clinics.

  • Turkey: roughly €3,500–€5,500, often sold as a package with hotel and transfers.

  • Sweden (ECGA, Stockholm): from €6,100, including general anaesthesia, compression garment and all follow-up visits.

We'll say it plainly: ECGA is not the cheapest option in Europe. We sit in the middle of the range, well below private UK prices and above Turkey, Poland and Belgium. What you get for that price is described below, so you can decide what matters to you.

Why the headline price isn't the whole price

Two quotes with the same number can cover very different things. Before comparing, check whether each price includes:

  • The surgeon's fee and the anaesthetist (general anaesthesia)

  • The operating room and, if needed, an overnight stay

  • Your specific technique: double incision with free nipple grafts usually costs more than keyhole or periareolar

  • The compression garment

  • Follow-up visits, and how they work once you are back home

  • What happens, and what it costs, if you need a revision or have a complication

  • Consultation fees

Then add what no clinic includes: flights, accommodation for the days you need to stay nearby, local transport and time off work. A lower surgical price in a country far from home can end up costing about the same once you add a longer stay. Our guide to what's included in the price of top surgery goes through each item.

How to compare quotes fairly

  • Ask every clinic for a written, itemised quote for your technique.

  • Ask who performs the surgery, and whether they are a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience in chest masculinisation.

  • Ask how many days you need to stay after surgery before flying home.

  • Ask how follow-up works across borders, and whether digital follow-up is possible.

  • Ask how long you will wait for a consultation and for a surgery date.

Where ECGA fits

The European Centre for Gender Affirming Surgery (ECGA) is in central Stockholm (Sveavägen 84). Our board-certified plastic surgeons perform double incision, semiareolar/periareolar, keyhole and donut mastectomy (see which technique is right for you). Here's what you get:

  • Top surgery from €6,100, with general anaesthesia, the compression garment and all follow-up visits included

  • A free first consultation, which can be done digitally from home

  • Surgery dates within 30 days

  • Digital follow-up visits once you're home, plus visits at the clinic in Stockholm

Your exact price depends on factors such as BMI, chest size and the technique your surgeon recommends. You'll get a fixed quote at your consultation before you commit to anything. Frequently asked questions

How much does top surgery cost in Europe?

Self-pay FTM top surgery in Europe costs roughly €3,000 to €12,000. The lowest published prices are in Turkey, Poland and Belgium (roughly €3,000–€5,500), Spain and Germany sit around €4,000–€8,000, and private clinics in the UK are the most expensive at about £7,500–£10,500. At ECGA in Stockholm, top surgery starts from €6,100, including general anaesthesia, the compression garment and all follow-up visits.

Why is top surgery cheaper in some countries?

Prices follow local salaries, hospital costs and what is included. A low headline price can leave out anaesthesia, an overnight stay, nipple grafts, the compression garment or follow-up visits, and travel and accommodation always come on top. Compare what each quote includes, not only the number.

Is the cheapest top surgery in Europe the best choice?

Not necessarily. Check the surgeon's board certification and experience with chest masculinisation, which techniques they offer, how follow-up and complications are handled after you travel home, and the total cost including travel, accommodation and time off work.

What is included in ECGA's top surgery price?

ECGA's top surgery price starts from €6,100 and includes general anaesthesia, the compression garment and all follow-up visits, both in person and digital. The first consultation is free and can be done digitally. The final price depends on factors such as BMI, chest size and technique, and you get an exact quote at consultation.
