Am I a Candidate for Top Surgery? Eligibility and What to Expect at Consultation

You must be 18 or older to have top surgery with us — beyond that, eligibility is not a checklist you need to complete before reaching out. Most of what determines whether and when you have surgery gets worked out together with your surgeon at a personal consultation, whether you already know exactly what you want or are still exploring your options.

What are the eligibility requirements for top surgery?

The one firm requirement is age: you must be 18 or older to undergo a gender-affirming procedure with us. There is no separate list of boxes to tick before you can book — your health, goals, and any documents or referrals are reviewed together with you at your consultation, not required in advance.

What happens at my consultation?

Your consultation is where the details come together. Your surgeon reviews your goals, your health, and any necessary documents or referrals, and walks you through the recommended procedure, including a thorough review of the risks. If your procedure involves a mastectomy, this is also where you and your surgeon decide together which technique fits your chest size, ptosis, and preference. You leave with a clear, personalized plan and quote.

Can I have a consultation if I am not sure yet?

Yes. A consultation is not a commitment to surgery — it is the place to ask questions, understand your options, and figure out if and when this is right for you. Many patients book a consultation specifically because they are still deciding, not because they have already made up their mind.

Do I need a referral before I book?

No. Any documents or referrals that are relevant to your care are addressed as part of your consultation, not as a prerequisite to booking one. Reach out first — the details get sorted out together.

How do I get started?

Contact our clinic to schedule a consultation, available digitally if you are traveling from abroad. We typically offer consultation dates within 30 days. From there, you and your surgeon build a treatment plan tailored to your goals.
